The convention center stretches between 7th and 9th Streets NW, from Mount Vernon Place north to N Street, with L and M Streets passing through it. The main public entrance faces Mount Vernon Square and the historic Carnegie Library, and a large headquarters hotel sits across 9th Street with others within a few blocks. The Mt Vernon Sq/7th St–Convention Center Metro station is directly beneath.
For a chauffeur the question is always which door. A large show may use entrances on different streets for registration, exhibitors and VIPs, and curb lanes on 7th and 9th Streets are busy with buses and taxis. We confirm the correct entrance with you or your planner beforehand and our chauffeurs communicate by phone on approach so the meeting is quick.
Reagan National is the closest airport, usually 15–30 minutes from the convention center depending on traffic. Dulles is commonly 45–70 minutes and BWI 50–75 minutes. Union Station, for Amtrak and Acela arrivals, is only a short ride across downtown. We track flights from departure and adjust for early or late arrivals, and airport pickups include complimentary wait time.
On the final day of a show, thousands of attendees head for the airports within a few hours. Reserving the return transfer when you book the arrival is the easiest way to be sure of a car, and we recommend leaving a wider margin than usual for the trip to DCA.
For companies bringing a team, we build a simple transportation plan: arrivals grouped by flight time, a van loop between the hotel and the hall at the start and end of each day, a car reserved for the executive who has meetings elsewhere in the city, and transportation to the client dinner.
